kid-cudi-4G.O.O.D. music artist Kid Cudi has decided to take the leap from hip hop to acting. You can expect to see Cudi staring in a lead role in a upcoming HBO series.

Up until recently I have never even heard of Kid Cudi. At first I just blew off any press releases that I may have received.

Out of no where Kid Cudi’s name have been popping up all over the place. I decided to do a little home work and I found some of his mix tape work. Boy was I blown away – Kid Cudi represents the essence of hip hop and what it represents.

Ok… Ok… I may have digressed a little, so allow me to get back on track. Kid Cudi will be featured in a HBO series entitled, “How To Make It In America.” According to inside sources the HBO series will be produced by the same guys who did Entourage. I was also told that Mark Wahlberg is the executive producer. Julian Farino has taken the seat as director, and for those of you who may not know that’s the director from Sex And The City and The Sopranos.

Kid Cudi’s character in the series goes by the name of Domingo Dean. Despite the rappers other successes his character has nothing to do with the music business. This was a point that Cudi felt strongly about.

Securing a lead role in the new HBO series is pretty demanding. However Kid Cudi has still found the time to work on his up coming album, “Man on the Moon: The End of Days.” According to his label the street date for the album is September 15th. So do your ears a favor and add it to your collection. The album will feature The Clipse, Common, Kanye West, and the legendary hip hop super star Snoop Dogg. The production for the album was supported by none other than Kanye West, Just Blaze and Will.i.am.

9796744_36_3Former boxing champion Arturo Gatti, whose epic trilogy with Micky Ward branded him one of the most exciting fighters of his generation, was found dead in a hotel room in the posh seaside resort of Porto de Galihnas early Saturday.

Alves said police were investigating and it was unclear how the 37-year-old Canadian died.

“It is still too early to say anything concrete, although it is all very strange,” Alves said. He declined to provide any additional details.

Known for his straightforward punching and granite-like chin, Gatti captured the junior welterweight title in 1995, when he defeated Tracy Harris Patterson in Atlantic City, N.J. His brawling style and natural charisma made him a fan favorite, and he became one of New Jersey’s adopted sons while fighting some of his most memorable battles on the Boardwalk.

“His entire boxing career he fought with us, we’ve known him since he was 17,” Kathy Duva of promoter Main Events told The Associated Press. “It’s just an unspeakable tragedy. I can’t even find words. It’s a horror.”

Gatti defended his title three times before moving up in weight and getting stopped by Angel Manfredy in 1997. He lost twice more before running off four straight wins, setting up a big payday against Oscar De La Hoya.

Although Gatti was knocked out in the fifth round of a lopsided fight, his almost cult-like following never wavered in its support.

“He just captured the imagination of so many people,” Duva said. “We used to joke it was a crowd like the Grateful Dead’s, it was the same people every time.”

“He had no idea what an icon he was or how much he meant to people.”

mcnair130Steve McNair, retired quarterback of the Tennessee Titans found dead on July 4, 2009.

Steve McNair was asleep on the couch, and a young lady with whom he had been in n undefined relationship with shoots him 4 times,  twice in the head and twice in the chest.  The you lady Sahel, then turns the gun on herself, tries to position herself to fall in his lap once the deed was done.  that didn’t happen, she fell at his feet.

Sad news for the family his wife Mechelle of 12 years and their 4 children, my prayers and condolences out to them.

Let me break this whole scenario down for you, it has been sugar coated in the media for the past week, but enough is enough. This man is creeping around in another state with this young girl who is 20 years old, she thinks she has struck gold, hey, he had it going on, he was a successful business man after he retired.

She figured he would leave his wife and family, and make her the queen b.  Come on ladies, we know that game.  Who knows, maybe he did tell her that, but when reality kicked in, and I am sure it did.  this “young” lady couldn’t handle the truth, so what does she do, take the brotha out, and then herself.

That is ridiculous.  I am sorry, if  things ain’t working out in your life the way you want them too, take yourself out, put yourself out of your misery, don’t take anybody else with you.  That may sound harsh, and maybe even cruel, but it is what it is.  This woman has taken the life of someone’s father, son, and yes, someone’s husband.  That has to be the craziest thing in the world to me.

Watch out peeps, everything done in the dark is destined to come out in the light, one way or the other.  Let’s just hope its not in death, like this man.

R.I.P. Steve McNair.

mike-jThe memorial service held in LA on Tuesday July 7, 2009, was amazing.  I watched it several times just to get the real vibe of the performers, and guests.  It was awesome, the words spoken by Brooke Shields about the “real” Michael Jackson, and the touching words by Jermaine and Marlon were fabulous.  The words that Al Sharpton spoke and the tears he shed were truly heartfelt.  Usher and Jennifer Hudson’s performance brought down the house, yet the most humanistic moment of that entire ceremony was Paris Katherine Michael Jackson.  That 9 year old made Michael Jackson a “man”, a “daddy”. He became much more than a performer,  an artist, he became a “man” to me that day.

For all the media and press who are covering this story, if you didn’t feel anything at that moment, you need to walk away from journalism, you are not human.  The negative words and coverage that is coming out about Michael doesn’t mean a thing to those children.  He was then and will always be the best father in the world to them.

People are acting as if they have no secrets, no skeletons in their closets.  That’s probably why they do this job, to keep the focus off of the things they are doing in their lives that is not right.

Give it a rest people, leave him be, let these children remember their father as the man who loved them more than life, and he did.  He managed to keep them from you all for 12 years.  God Bless Mike.

More to come on the Coroner’s report.  Stay tuned, Scoop got the info coming at you!
